I have a 71 project that has been disassembled since 1995. Do the springs "go bad" from lying around with no tension on them? I am trying to decide if I buy new springs or put the old ones back on. is there anyway to tell if they are ok. If they need replacing, now would be the time.

No way springs can go bad when their not in the car. Springs are cheep and the rear springs are easy to replace. Put the old ones in so you can see how it sits/rides, then if you want a change, it will cost about $60. and an hour to replace them..
