: Spongy brakes...

Four wheel power drums; new master cylinder, all new shoes and springs front and back and new wheel cylinders in the back several months ago. All was fine until a couple of weeks ago when it started pulling real hard to the left. Had a leaking cylinder on right front brake, so I replaced the front wheel cylinders and hoses. I've ran probably three quarts of brake fluid thru the system bleeding them and they're still spongy, lotta pedal travel and the pedal doesn't get any better with pumping. (It doesn't go all the way to the floor and the car stops)

I also replaced the vacuum line, the grommet on the booster, and the check valve with a generic HELP! part from Advance Auto.

I noticed today that the pedal's a lot tighter when I'm in neutral. Why would this make a difference? Better vacuum?

Any ideas, suggestions?
Thanks.

I had a vacuum leak and it made my pedal really soft. I cant think of anything else it could be since you say you replaced al the hoses. I also had to bleed the S*** out of my brake system to before i could get any pedal on mine..Im sure one of the brake gurus will chime in...
