I just installed new rear e-brake cables on my 66, which has not had a functioning e-brake for at least 10 years. I also have a new intermediate cable. Where do I connect the rear e-brake cables to inside the rear drums? Also, exactly where do I put the little S-hooks in the crossmembers under the floor so that the intermediate cable will function properly? Anyone have a diagram? The manual isn't helping any. Is there suppose to be 2 or 3 of the little S-hooks? I have 2 now. Like I said there have been no e-brake cables under the car for at least 10 years so I don't remember exactly where everything is suppose to go. How long is the intermediate cable suppose to be for a TH350 car?

My PB was non-existent too, and the manual sucks!

The cables connect via "arms" that are attached to one the rear brake shoes. I don't have a photo, but they are pretty self explanatory (when you push the cable through the brake housing it will bump into them). They sell them at the AZ cheap, but chances are they are still on yours...

This is a pic of the front brakes, but they are identical so use it for referrence. The red circle is where that lever will be:

I have a 68 with a TH350. Not sure if the cable route is the same, but here are pics of how I set it up with the ass. manual:

The large cable guide attaches to the hole in the center of the tranny support...

Thanks!! I must be missing something in the rear drum brake, because I don't see exactly where the cable end should attach to. But, I do know that I am going to have to buy the large cable hanger that does into the crossmember.

chevydog, somtimes when you go into Google or Yahoo and type in chevy drum brakes or something like that, you'll find someone who has an exploded view that will show you what parts your missing. In fact at some of these parts houses they have a diagram right on the counter, I think Bendex brakes has one they advertises like that. Anyway sounds like your missing 2 flat arms and bushings and spring which you can see on sapperox's photo

The Chevy shop manual for your car will have a good number of exploded view diagrams and pictures. The Chassis Service Manual will probably have even more detail.

I couldn't really see the exact location of it in the Chassis Service Manual. I will go to NAPA today and see what I can find out. Thanks guys.
