I am trying to put a new power booster in my 67 chevelle. My problem here, may be simple (I hope), is that the rod is too short to reach the pedal. I can bring the pedal to the rod, but that would be too short to reach the brake light switch. Anyone have any ideas for me? I have a few ideas, I don't know which is best. I still have the old booster.

The rod should be threaded to put the U shaped bracket on it. Have you tried adjusting it? How much space is between the pedal and the stop if you bring the pedal tothe rod?

I just compared the 2 boosters. It seems like (with the thickness of the new bracket on the booster is 1/4" thicker and the new rod linkage is 1/4" shorter), the difference is almost 1/2" between the thread on the rod and the pedal light switch. That in mind, it looks like the rod is 1/2" shorter than the original one. There is no way of adjusting the rod, and the bracket on the old booster is rivetted on.
Also, my chevelle was originally a malibu with a short block engine. I can not find any listings for malibus and according to a lot of people, malibu and chevelles are interchangeable. It looks like I'll have to return the new booster, and try again. I thought I could replace the rod or adjust it, but no way.

There are 2 differant lenght rods. If you have the short one take the booster bad and get the longer one.
