: 1967 Horn Assembly

After purchasing my 67 conv. with non working horn, found that pretty much all the horn components were removed from the column. Only thing remaining is the contacts with wires coming from the horn buttons in the wheel, the white turn signal switch assembly and a thin, round plastic cover.
Looks like I can buy the 3 piece horn kit, but not sure how it all goes together.
Also not sure if I am missing any other pieces. I'm thinking I may be missing the signal canceling piece, but not sure what it looks like and how it fits in. It is a 4 spd/floor shift model.
Does anyone have detailed pictures or a diagram so I can see if I am missing anything else and how it goes together. I looked at they photos already posted regarding a 66, but the pictures did not show enough detail so I can make sense of it.
Any help would be appreciated.

If you look about 11 or 12 posts down from this one there is a thread about 66 Chevelle steering wheel horn diagram.

http://www.chevelles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=105352

I posted 9 step by step pictures on how the horn assy comes apart.

I have one. it is 399 pages and has the wood grain wheel diagram with center button horn but not the standard wheel.
Does your manual show the standard wheel horn assembly? Possibly I have a different manual.

Rocky,
thanks for the reply. This is generally helpful and gets me closer.
according to NPD the parts for a 67 are different than a 66. It has a different signal cancelling divise as well. Also has a ring with tabs for the horn button wires to connect to that is not in your diagram. Fairly mechanical, but this one is giving me trouble.

I just finished the horn assembly on mine, and I had forgotten how it all went. But luckily if you are gentle with the pieces you can trial and error fit them. On mine they only went one way. If you are logical about it, it shouldnt take too long.

Be careful not to strip the wires, thats how the guy before me killed the horn.

The 3 screws with the 3 springs need not be tightened until everything is fit up.

The bigger hole in the back of the steering wheel is for the horn button.

The horn assembly worked perfect for me, hopefully the same for you.

Hope I helped, this is my first post to help.
