And what a pain in the ass it was(pun intended):). Thank God for air tools!! Its in the truck ready to go to the shop tomorrow for new gears, tubes welded, and axles installed. Should have it back under the car by the end of the week.

I hope it goes back under the car easier than it came out, anybody got any tips?

Got any furniture dolleys? Those would work well rolling the rear diff. back under there and getting the lower arms hooked up first(my preferred method). Make sure to support the snout to keep the diff from rolling over forwards.

Use an aligning pin/center punch tool to get the control arms lined up while you put the bolts in. This is especially useful on the upper arms which are a bit harder to reach. Grease the ends of the bushings and don't forget to torque the bolts to spec.

I cheated, it's nice to have a lift at home. One thing I found easier removing the backing plates was to just leave the brake assembly together and un hook the e-bake cables back at the union in front of the lower control arm. I got away with this because I rebuilt the rear brakes last year and everything was new and clean so there was no reason to remove the brake assemblies from the backing plates. I looked in town for the proper tool to take the e-brake cables off the backing plates, but no one had one.

Use a small hose clamp, works like a charm:yes:
