I am putting a new Big Block in my 1968 Chevelle. Do i need to change the SBC mount at all. Is it a direct bolt in replacement? Can somebody help me here. I put the engine in and the pan hits the crossmember and it wont let the engine lean back....?

What mounts are you using? If you are using the same mounts that came off the SBC, you should be fine. I believe all BB/SB motor mounts are the same, with the exception on the 307 which are "tall and narrow". All the others are "short and wide". Just need to make sure you "pair" them correctly and not mix and match. As far as the pan goes, you have to have a pan specifically for your chevelle. truck/other car pans won't clear the crossmember. It is still a real tight fit, I just did a SB/BB conversion and I have less than 1/4" clear from the pan...I suggest poly mounts

Well the car had the 307 in it and i bought new engine mount that bolt to the engine but the brackets that are bolted to the crossmember are the original mounts. Here is the link to the oil pan i bought thats hitting the crossmember and wont let the engine lean back. Also it looks like the engine is sitting really high.

Maybe someone will chime in on the 307 mounts, but I was under the impression if you have the 307 frame stands(on crossmember) and 307 motor mounts(on motor) then you are good. I'm not sure on the pan either? sorry

Yeah ,you can't mix the 307 frame mounts with 350 engine mounts.
As you have 307 frame mounts you need the 307 engine mounts.
Have no idea if that pan will work or not but usually you need a Chevelle pan.

At first glance all your parts look right.....If you use 307 mtr. mounts with 307 frame stands it should fit.
I DO see a problem with the oil pan description; it states Chevelle/Monte Carlo but not which years......It does say it fits 1965-95 engines but not the years of Chevelle body/frame.
The Chevelle and Monte Carlo model cars were made up to 1977. This pan could be for 1973-77 Chevelles, that might be the problem right there.......I'm very suspicious of the oil pan but I could be wrong.......
I'm guessing here; possibly early pans also fit later cars but not vice-versa. Maybe you have a 1973-up Chevelle oil pan?
Also, I think the engine year fitment in the listing should have said 1965-1990......

that oil pan is CRAP, fore and aft length of the sump is 3/4'' too long and the front corners should be angled:mad:
had one on mine,
i had the engine in and out about 30-times making room for the oil pan to fit inside the cross-member=what a FRiggin headache :( it damaged the brake line also...
put on a stock replacement or the moroso oil pan that fits the frame on a 68......
really......:)

Does anybody know why they made two different mounts?

I went through two new aftermarket pans for my 68SS before I went back and restored the stock gm pan on my 396. None of them fit right, they all hit the crossmember and both of them were advertised for a 68 big block Chevelle. It was a miserable time putting the engine in and taking it out but the gm pan fit perfect.
