I've got a 70 chevelle and am trying to find out what the widest tire that will fit is. and what the rim specs for that tire are. Preferably 15 inch tires.

It depends on what your looking for. I like drag racing more than road racing, so if you want tires for just hooking up in a straight line, then I have seen 70 chevelles with 305's in the back. I think it requiers 41/2 inch backspace, and the fender lip be rolled, as well as "massaging" the innder fender with a mallet. If you just roll the lip, 295's can fin with ease. Use a 15X8 inch rim.

Ive done lots of measuring and the widest tire you can fit can only have about a 12.5" section width and you will need a 15x10 rim with a 5.5 backspace to center the wheel.I run 17x11 with 315/35/17 drag radials with no rubbing and the overall width is 12.5" wide.Hope this helps.
