I am rebuilding a 70 ss. I am just about to take the body off the frame and redo the rear suspension. The car will have a 427 BB. Will the original rear suspension be ok. This will just be a cruiser not a racer. Any tips or suggestions as to repalcing with aftermarket or will the original be ok. Any tips on what to look for as far as damage would be great.

What do you have now? Do you have boxed lowers? I would replace the bushings in the uppers if they are original. Sway bar might also help but not totally sure since i have not done this yet. I have SSM lift bars for my lowers and they helped quite a bit with traction.

while its apart replace all the bushings in the control arms I like the stock MOOG rubber bushing but you'll get lots of different oppions ;) ... if you don't have the boxed lowers .. OPG has the inserts to weld into your arms on sale right now for 19 dollars.. boxing the arms & installing the rear swaybar is a good Mod for these cars :D
