OK, I'll ask....if your dash is "mint", why does it need to be rechromed?

greg5436 Dec 19th, 09, 9:49 PM do not send it to just dashes,i sent 2 nice 69 dashes out to them out of my post cars.they said 8 weeks and charged me up front.8 month later they showed up.1 had been broken and fixed and there quality of work was terrible on this job.credit card company wouldn't do anything because of time limits.Mr G's did a couple for me but i sent him my own dash and said rechrome my own. well the sent me a different one and there was a visible repair in it and i said this won't do.i want my own dash back.so the did send me my own dash, so make sure you go over this real good with them and mark your dash somewhere so you can identify it. Mr G's did nice work. greg
cheveslakr Dec 19th, 09, 10:06 PM X2 on staying away from Just Dashes. I wasn't impressed in the least on their quality, and they charge a pretty penny. Maybe they used to be better when they were trying to gain a reputation.

36t9s Dec 23rd, 09, 8:48 PM Well it don't look good for my original dash. I found 2 places that redo the dashes & they both want $350.00 +shipping x2. so now i might just buy a new repo dash its cheaper just $199.00 +shipping x1. does anybody know how they fit & if anyone sells them cheaper? Thanks Brock!!
cheveslakr Dec 23rd, 09, 10:08 PM Careful there! The repops are not chrome lined, just painted silver. You can do this yourself, just paint the dash SEM landau black and purchase a silver paint pen from someone like Just Dashes and you'll have a much better product than a repop.

The '69 repop dashes now have actual chrome on them and look pretty good.

I bought and installed one a couple years ago. I had to take a rag with laquer thinner to reveal the chrome around the perimeter. It was just painted over in black. As far as the fit that was a different story. I got it to work but it was a struggle. This was maybe 3/4 years ago and most were having the fitting struggle that I was. Maybe they have improved in the meantime. Also it didn't matter where you bought one they were all mad by the same Chinese manufacturer.
I installed a reproduction 69 dash bezel earlier this year and had no real problems with it. As mentioned by Brad, they painted over some of the areas (vertical edges) that should be chrome, but a little laquer thinner revealed the chrome nicely. Overall the fit was fine. The steering column cover was a tight fit. Other than that, I'd highly recommend a repop. I believe these are sold with either painted chrome highlights or actual chrome. Make sure you get the chrome highlighted one.
Mr. G's will not guarantee that you will get your original back. I fought that battle many times on the phone with them and lost. I have used CV Vacuum platers before with good results. http://www.cvvacuumplaters.com/

CRUZN69 Dec 24th, 09, 9:41 AM I've bought a couple from True Connections. They have the chrome plated ones. Only $169
Here are a couple of pix of the repop dash bezel.

Don't feel bad. The price to do a '70-'72 dash carrier is twice that much, due to physical size. If I could have had mine done for only $350 bucks, I would have done it in a heartbeat.

X2 on staying away from Just Dashes. I wasn't impressed in the least on their quality...
I've recently read several similar unflattering comments about "Just Dashes," here and on another forum.
Following are some pictures from "Just Dashes" website showing some of the skilled craftsmen currently in their employ...

Incidentally, "Just Dashes" is located in Van Nuys, California which, coincidentally, is just a little over 100 miles from the border.
Not saying anything, just supplying some pictures and logistics.
'Nuff said.

I got mine from Ground Up and it's chromed. Part #IJ69V. $169.95.
Fit perfect. Went in easy. Mine has no air with Astro Ventilation if that matters. Gauge lens was $69.95
Everything I bought from them has been excellent except for the outside rear view mirrors. They were not good. Easy return. Call them and ask for Doc. He was great and very knowledgeable.
Hope I helped.
