: Hydroboost Group Purchase

David Bates Aug 10th, 04, 12:05 PM I have to agree with 69boo307. The 8" dual diaphram booster I had in my El Camino was okay as long as the engine RPM/Vacuum was up but at idle with 12" vacuum, applying the brakes the pedal got progressively harder. The difference is night and day better graemlins/thumbsup.gif I would not have believed the difference. Since then I have installed Wilwood 12.9" front rotors with 6-piston calipers and 12.2" rear rotors with 4-piston clipers and believe me when I say my brakes are incredible to say the least.

What master cylinder are you using?

69boo307 Aug 11th, 04, 8:20 AM The master cylinder comes with the Hydroboost kit, I'm using the same one. I'm also, believe it or not, using the original drum brake metering block with my 4-wheel C5 disc setup. No adjustable prop valve or different block. This was per Paul's recomendation, and so far it is working perfectly.

The car slows real good but in order to bring it to a complete stop, I have to apply a ton of pedal pressure. The pedal gets progressively harder as I push it down. Do you think a Hydroboost system would work for me? Can I purchase everything except the master cylinder?

Is that M/C for power or manual brakes? I'm assuming manual if it has the shallow pushrod cup.

I have the same brake setup as Dave except I'm using the S10 manual drum/drum quick takeup type M/C. Those Wilwood brakes should grab like mad. My stock brakes worked better. :confused:

1967talldeck427 Aug 12th, 04, 4:20 PM Bought my kit maybe 6 months ago. Yes, the $595 included a master cylinder. I'm running a turn 40 modified type II gm p.s. pump with a remote reservoir. Paul was awesome to deal with and helped me with all the additional lines that I needed to plumb in the reservoir. I used all aeroquip hoses/fittings without any rubber lines at all. This setup with Baer 13"/12" rotors make my 3800+ lb chevelle literally stop on a dime. With this setup I can generate well over 2,000 psi on the in-car brake pressure gauge. Best money I ever spent.
