I used the spindles and brake setup from a 72 Monte Carlo. Everything went well except I ruined the Driver's upper ball joint because it wouldn't come loose and I had to use the "blue wrench". I replaced that and all seems OK.

I changed to the manual disk master from the 76 Malibu seems to work fine. I didn't want to get into installing vacuum pumps because of my big CAM.

I did not change the proportioning valve yet but I took it for a drive and it seems fine the way it is. What should I see change with the swap of that valve? Should I leave it alone. I will say that they don't seem to grab quite like I expected - could that be the proportioning valve. Can anyone tell me what the difference is in ratios.

If you just had a distribution block (from 4 wheel drum). Definatly change the prop valve, i went though a series of bad mastercylinders from the zone, about 4. And it caused my brakes to totally not work and kidna work. I changed out my prop valve in the middle of my bad master cylinders, and i did notice an improvement (brakes were dragging before) but not sure if it was the master cylinder or the prop valve.

What did you exchange it with? Can they be purchased new at Autozone or Discount or do they need top come from MP Brakes or the like?

I bought my prop valve from henshaw's chevelles. I bought the master cylinder the right one from carquest. The ones from the zone were all wrong. It ended up costing me a bit more but no more hastle of no brakes.
