Converting to front disk brakes on son's 70 malibu. The proportioning valve didn't have the bolt to attach it to the frame. What type of bolt does it take? Checked the catalogs I've got and can't find one. Anyone have an extra? Getting close to getting this thing done and the little stuff is postponing completion.

A car with drum brakes all around did not have a proportioning valve on the frame. There was only a distribution block that many think is a proportioning valve. I converted my 69 cutlass from drum to disc this spring. After removing the distribution block, which was held to the frame with a course thread 5\16 bolt, I think, I found the proportioning valve from a disc\drum car would not bolt to that single hole. Proportioning valves, better known as combination valves, have 2 holes for bolt fasteners. I had to make a braket to bolt to the frame, then bolt the prop valve to that bracket. Took lots of time. If my engine had been out, I would have drilled 2 holes in the frame and used bolts, but I couldn't get my drill into the space. To avoid this hassle on the frame, some mount the porp valve off a bracket that hangs below the master cylinder. 78 camaros used this setup. Looks fine. Just a heads up here for you.
