Hello, Im in a tough spot. Im getting ready to paint my 1966 SS 396 4 speed car it is factory ermine white with red interior. I want to keep it all stock including color, but my kids, wife, friends basically everyone else thinks i should go different color to make it more flashy. will this depreciate the value of my car if i go different color? would like some feedback this is driving me crazy:confused: thanks Ben

I love white cars! I would stay with the original color. You don't see many white Super Sports around.

my motto is do the car the way you want to it's yours so enjoy it, now if you bought it for investment and expect to get as much as you can out of it then keep it origional

I think white with red interior would look pretty sharp.

White looks really good with red interior. I'd keep it that way.

White with Red is pretty rare.
I would keep it white unless you plan on doing a really radical non-stock car.
Then paint it what ever color you want.

I vote to keep it white, but it is your car.

I also agree. White with a red interior looks great. If you want to add some flash, buy a set of hot looking wheels/tires that you can swap around if you want some flash now and then.

I notice you are up in the "rust belt" like me. I been told if a car has any rust..even sanded down, White paint is the first colour it be noticeable. If all panels have been replaced or 100% rust free then no problems.

White and red is sharp but hard to see in the snow / but you aren't driving it in the winter no more, lol.

White yellows with age. Might be harder to spray on right. Believe black is tricky too. A pro can do it thou.

lol, i bought the car in virginia where it has been all it life so the rust was very minimum. And it better not go out in the winter or someones in BIG trouble

I'm having the same issue except the interior is coded bright blue. I t was converted to black last century some time. Now the car is totally disassembled. It was also painted the typical marina blue by a previous owner who apparently did not like the white. I am quite a ways from having to decide the colors and I think of it about every day. We want the car to look hot and attractive but we think white is a little soft. But, I drive a white Navigator with white interior and it looks sharp. I will be confused until the spray gun fires probably but I am leaning towards going back to white. the interior is a different matter. The headliner, carpet and seat covers have to be replaced. If I go back to blue there is a lot more to do, especially difficult is finding a blue steering wheel which I think was in originally. If you already have all the original red interior parts you should keep the interior red. The only exterior colors that go with the red I think is the white and the regal red. Black would not look good with a red interior. I vote for the original white. I think both our cars colors are rare so perhaps we should keep them that way for those who would appreciate it. Well, thats my rambling thoughts on the matter anyway.

Mike, if your current steering wheel is in good shape you can sand it down and have it repainted blue.
