: 1985 Monte Carlo SS - parts to a '65?
Furious Malibu Aug 4th, 04, 1:48 AM People,
(I'm just back from a short pause due to moving - good to be back!)
I have the opportunity to get quite a few parts from an 85 SS.
What parts would bolt on/need little modification to fit my '65? I'll be keeping the steering box as a spare
-sway bars?
-anything else from the suspension?
Thanks!
LeoP Aug 4th, 04, 11:44 AM The steering box will definately work, you will need some adapter fittings made by Lee manufacturing. You might do a search for more info, this question has come up many times before.
Bacchus Aug 4th, 04, 9:18 PM The front spindle/brake/caliper setup is popular with vega/monza guys. Sell them on v8monza.com

Furious Malibu Aug 5th, 04, 3:07 AM Thanks. I thought theren't many parts to transfer as well...BTW, it's an '87
67 GTO Aug 5th, 04, 5:59 AM 86/87 MCSS 200-4Rs are good units...
wanarace Aug 5th, 04, 2:30 PM Forget the fittings. You might be able to swap the whole power steering pump and hoses. If the car has a Long water pump setup no problem. May have problems if you have the stock short water pump.

71350SS Aug 7th, 04, 1:38 AM Front sway bar won't fit.I was given one for free from an 85 and tried it.Wouldn't clear the frame. graemlins/clonk.gif
Philip Aug 7th, 04, 2:02 PM If it has an 8.5" rear end I would be interested in buying it for my Buick.
wanarace Aug 8th, 04, 12:39 AM No Monte SS came factory with a 8.5". Ok any G-body that is. But I guess it is possible someone put one in.

Furious Malibu Aug 12th, 04, 1:43 AM The car owner is keeping the engine/trans as a spare for his '88.
I'm keeping the steering set up as a spare as well.
I have no idea about the rear end, but the car needs to roll for when it's towed - I'll ask...
Brian, I'll pass your info along. Thanks.

Steve The Turo Regals and GNs came with 8.5's from the factory and some of the 442's did too. G bodies that is.
wanarace Aug 12th, 04, 7:11 PM My fault. The any G-body was in reference to any G-Body Monte SS, as the early 70's SS could have the 8.5"
