We added ZO6 calps to a 1969 Chevelle that originally had drums all the way around. We took the car to a shop to have them check over the installation and they may have adjusted the pushrod.
Now we have a problem with the front discs, when they warm up, applying themselves to such an extent that the car won't move. As soon as the brakes cool down, they are okay, for a short period of time.
I adjusted the pushrod, tightening it two turns. That didn't help. The discs are still applying themselves when the brakes warm up. There is very little play in the brake pedal, and, as the brakes warm up, there is little to no play.
I checked a Chilton shop manual, and here is what it says, "Vehicles with disc brakes do not have a check valve in the front outlet port ofthe master cylinder. If one is installed, the front discs will quickly wear out due to residual hydraulic pressure holding the pads against the rotor."
Is that what's happening here? Is there a way to remove the check valve? Or, should I get a m/c for a disc brake equipped car? Thanks!
