: muncie side cover swap
Jim Mac Dec 15th, 09, 8:15 PM You guys set me up with the right shift arms for a hurst shifter. But just trying to save myself 60-70 bucks here. Could I take the 1970 M21 side cover, shift forks etc and the hurst shifter and bolt it onto my 1967 M20 tranny. That way I wouldnt have to buy anything shifter partwise? thanks.
JodysTransmissions Dec 15th, 09, 9:58 PM Yes, that swap will work and function properly.
Jim Mac Dec 15th, 09, 10:12 PM Thanks! Figure I should try to use what I have.
Any suggestions on a decent (economical) clutch kit? Mild 454, 14" flywheel, wide ratio, and a 3.31 tail gears. The elcamino may end up at the track once or twice, just to see what it'll do. other than that, its a weekend driver. jim
JodysTransmissions Dec 16th, 09, 7:58 AM There are many great clutches out there and everyone will have their favorite. I always insist whatever clutch a customer wants, make sure it is not a rebuilt unit but, a well known brand name.
BowtieAaron Dec 16th, 09, 9:40 AM i have a ram powergrip (muscle car series) in my chevelle. times in sig.
works great. had a CF when it worked it worked nice. but others have had good luck with them.

Jim Mac Dec 18th, 09, 8:02 PM what was the issue of the cf clutch? I see jegs has them for about 180 bucks.
Ever wonder how when you find stuff at a swap meet thats all mixmatched? This would be a explanation. jim
BowtieAaron Dec 19th, 09, 1:02 AM it was an 11 CF DF. i must have got a bad PP or something. i have always had inconsistent pedal heights. i put a new clutch in it and it cured the issue.
i have friensd who run CF's and have no issues. so i think i may have gotten a bad one.

Philip Dec 19th, 09, 6:52 PM I bought a McLeod assembly from Don's Hot Rod shop for the Nova project.
Jim Mac Dec 19th, 09, 7:40 PM Philip, Im looking at the zoom mu street setup for 106 bucks through jegs. This would be for my 71 el camino, its basically just a weekend driver, not planning on racing it. OR how this for low buck? just buy a new disc and use the PPlate that came with my changeover? maybe knock the glaze off and see what happens? jim
66CHEVELLE138 Dec 20th, 09, 4:53 PM I run a zoom, and I just love it. No slip. Pedal is easy enough to push down, compared to some I've had before.
Jim Mac Dec 21st, 09, 9:48 PM Shawn, is it the regular mu series clutch assy? Im getting my Jegs order ready tonight. Going to hit the send button tomorrow. Jim
