Does anyone have a suggestion on replacing the coil springs on a 72 chevelle super sport. I have a spring press but cannot get it to work properly. Any suggestions on an easier way to get the springs put back on the front end?

engine in car? this will work, frame up high on jack stands, remove shock, floor jack under front lower control arm, separate upper ball joint from spindle, then gently release jack, to lower control arm, spring will release, remove spring, replace spring, and reverse order to install. Watch spring when it releases, it has a lot of force. Whitney sells cheap joint remover tool, instead of pickle fork, so joint can be reused. Good time to replace upper ball joint or upper bushings.

engineer, I to need to get my springs back in my car. They came out without a hitch, but I can't get them back in. I to tried a spring compressor, but it won't clear the arms and the upper spring pocket.
I tried setting things in there place, but the spring wants to kick out at the bottom.

Any other ideas?????

Bigblocck-I had good success unbolting the lower controll arm from the frame(2 bolts) and then slowly lowering the floor jack down easing the presure off the spring! Installed it the same way it came out! Good luck.
