I have some old Cragar SS wheels that need some re-chromeing. Does anybody know where I can have this done. I took them over to Metro Plateing here in Mesa, AZ, and got rejected. I was told, becuse thay are a combo of steel and cast aluminum, thay cant be done. Is this true? I have had several things plated buy these guys before, and the results were great. Now I am at a loss for what to do. I dont want the new ones becuse thay are all unilug, and you cant get the skinny 15x4. Mine are the real deal, and are still perfectly straight. Any help would be aprecated.

They still sell the 15x4.5 SS. After you put the lugnut/washer on you can't tell the difference. I don't know why they can't be plated but many shops won't rechrome pot-metal either but a few will. It's costly, over $100 for a door handle, so I can imagine a wheel would cost you serious coin. Not sure if the process is the same for aluminum and pot-metal either.

Thanks for the input guys. I bought them new in 1979, before unilug. I just hate the unilug set up. And powder coting will not work for me, I like chrome Cragar SS wheels.

These guys did custom chrome work for me. Excellent work but not cheap:
