: 67 Beaumont SD convertible 396 auto on the market (not mine)...
03cts sport Dec 15th, 09, 1:54 AM For anyone interested, there is a nice red 67 Beaumont SD 396 auto Convertible for sale in Canada . These are hard to find. I believe the asking price is in the area of $25k. Ping me if you are serious and I will track down his email for you to contact him directly.
chader Dec 15th, 09, 11:38 PM that is a smoking deal if you consider the production number. Not sure but I think it is in the 60 area?
03cts sport Dec 16th, 09, 1:29 AM Yeah, I think 66 produced? (It is also numbers matching.) Pretty rare...

this must be it on eBay
I haven't seen that car around, but judging by the city it is pretty close to me. Hmmm...
I don't have the room or budget for it, but how often do these cars come up for sale? Especially a convertible!
Years ago, I'm trying to remember now, perhaps 1991 I was at the Barrie Automotive Flea Market (pre-Internet days). I saw a bunch of desireable 1967 Chevelle parts for sale by a vendor. I saw a nice big block hood, nice bumpers with bumper guards, and a '67 Beaumont grille. I asked him about the parts car. He replied that he owned a towing company and he found a '67 Beaumont SD-396 convertible sitting out at a farm in the back 40, mired in mud up to its rockers. He bought the car as is for $1700 (his girlfriend thought he was crazy). He sold the convertible big block frame, then the 396 and had made all his money back at that point. But he broke a '67 Beaumont Sport Deluxe 396 convertible for parts  Judging by the parts the car was actually in surprisingly good shape. Factory 4-piston disk brakes, TH400, buckets, console...
mike67sd Dec 18th, 09, 8:41 AM I just checked that listing, and yes it appears that car could be had for 25,000 ..... The guy had it listed before and it had that starting price but his reserve was higher..... I emailed the guy and he is motivated to sell. I received the 150 pictures and the car needs work but its basically all there and quite solid... Anything needed could be got... The only thing I would see as a negative is it does not have disc brakes... A buddy of mine was looking for a convert.,so I enquired.......
jfkheat Dec 18th, 09, 10:42 AM The owner is a member on the Canadian Poncho site. The car is being talked about there. I don't think he will lower the price any but I could be wrong. Of the 66 that were built, there are only 8 or 9 left. That is the last numbers that I heard. It is a very rare car with a great color combo.

ak 67SD Dec 18th, 09, 8:15 PM Very rare, probably one of only a few left with the numbers matching... $24k canadian funds may get it done!! If this were a chevelle with the same rarity it would double the price and long gone!!
Cam, you really should visit CanadianPoncho every now and again! Its a really good forum with alot of very knowledgeable Beaumont folks on there...

So there are 8 or 9 known convertibles left? Hmmm, I know of
1) a Butternut Yellow one from Ontario (seen at GM Oshawa show in 2002),
2) Beaumont_Bill's red one in N.Y. (I believe it was Helmut's car from around Kingston, Ontario),
3) the red one for sale being discussed here,
4) a Madeira Maroon one in Ontario,
5) a Marina Blue one that emmigrated to Florida with it's owner (Featured in MuscleCar Review in 1998),
6) a black primed project car I saw on e-Bay in 2007 from Nova Scotia (no motor).
I saw one at a specialty car dealer in Simcoe, Ontario back in 1982 when my brother took pictures for Auto Trader, it may be one of the cars above.
Then there was unfortunately the one that got parted in about 1990 or 91 (judging by the condition of the parts it was too good to part  )Very rare, probably one of only a few left with the numbers matching... $24k canadian funds may get it done!! If this were a chevelle with the same rarity it would double the price and long gone!!

akAh, but I do get over there (from time to time) as user CdnGMfan. My current avatar is of a 68 Pontiac Strato Chief 2-door with redlines, Rally Wheels and a correct 427 badge on the front fender. I made the picture from the 2-page spread in the 68 brochure, then hunted for the appropriate wheel & tire picture to use in the picture. After looking at the brochure vs. production cars, I placed the 427 emblem as correctly as I could. I put on a rear antenna too. The original picture is about 6524 x 2040 pixels. It was inspired by one that was ordered new like it in Brantford, Ontario by a guy I met at the International Center in Toronto back in 1993. As it turned out, he found the car and bought it back in '93 and is finally getting around to restoring it after all those years.
Attached is my little avatar that I use over there:
67300Dlx Dec 19th, 09, 3:25 PM Whats involved in getting a canadain car into the sates? Is it hard or do I just go up and get and drive it home? What about the title paper work? I'm very interested in that car.
ak 67SD Dec 19th, 09, 3:54 PM -Theres a blue 738 convertible rusting into the ground in NS...
-There was a blue/blue one with NOM in winnipeg for sale a few years ago, restored for around $35k (looks just like the one in FL but i dont think its the same car?), never saw documentation to confirm, the same combo was also spotted in AB so that may be the car from winnipeg...
-Theres a blue 738 4speed car in AB thats all original, but NOM...
-Theres one other (painted blue, but i think it was yellow orig) rusted, and in a garage in ON, documented, but NOM
Then there are at least 3 736 SD convertibles...
-restored butternut yellow one in ON (this might be the one you are also refering to? there is also the yellow one being restored by Helmut currently, a 738 car)
-the white one (283/pg car, now 402) in Edmonton
-the blue one that was in SK that went to Helmut and sold again last year (it was a 736 car, but with a 396 and 4sp!!)
I never knew of 736 sd convertibles a few years ago, let alone that any 736 car came with a 396! so i was talking with the guy with the blue one above, and asking him to keep his bbc (nom) out of it and sell it to me rolling... i didnt think it was a 'sports option' either... live and learn!
so thats about it for ones that have been talked about, around 9 that have the 738 vin (out of 66 made) and 3 with the 736 vin (2-sbc's and 1 396 car-out of who knows how many)... so there's not many left! and again, out of those maybe 2 or 3 could have the original motor, or maybe this red one is only #s car left??
Wasnt sure if you were on the CP forums Cam, this red one has been brought up many times, Carl who is the highest volume poster on that forum used to own it in the early 80s and posted several pics of it from then as well....

As far as I know, this one is not an "SD"...
66 Beau Dec 20th, 09, 5:38 PM As far as I know, this one is not an "SD"...
I don't believe it is - but I thought it was still a useful reference for anyone looking at the SD ragtop. There aren't a lot of cars around for comparison.
As I understand it, there were 408 non-SD convertibles (model 73667) made in 1967, so about 6 times as many as there were SD's.

His is #2 on Cam's list...
Currently for sale, there is the yellow one in BC above, and another bright yellow one in CA thats been on ebay a few times (neither are SD's) and its for sale for $21000... It would be hard to find a comparison...

There must be something wrong with that car or it is over priced . If it is the same one I am thinking it has been for sale for a couple of years

I know its fairly straightforward to get a US car into Canada. The duties have been phased out a long time ago and that would probably apply to bringing it into the US as well. Usually all the government wants is the sales tax(es)... Be prepared to give 72 hours notice at the border to the friendly customs folks....The best thing to do is check with a customs broker for details.
As far as driving it home forget it.... There is a ton of snow ( and salt) just South of here ( we have nothing !! ) which would be your route home. Besides that, no insurance company will cover you without a trip permit, and trip permits usually cant be purchased without an ownership, so its a bit of a chicken and egg thing.
The best bet is to trailer it, you are coming a long way so I would bring a full on car trailer (not a dolly) and something beefy enough to tow it ( with a transmission cooler )
