I THINK I have the lines bled and ready on my 68 w/ drums all around, but you have to push the pedal all the way to the floor to get them to grab. I'm guessing at this point I just need to adjust the pads out, but I'm not sure...
Can someone out there tell me if I'm on the right track? And if so, what's the BEST method for adjusting them? I have a maintenance manual, but I want to be sure! Thanks!

Do you have an adjustment tool? It has a wide blade and is angled at the ends. You can do it with a screwdriver but the tool makes it easier. Quikest way is pull the drum and spin the star wheel to spread the shoes until the drum just slides on. That will save you a lot of time if they're way off, otherwise you going to have to spin the wheel with the tool one little click at a time. With drum off notice where self adjuster is located. After the drum is on bolt a wheel on and spin it, very slight amount of drag is what you want. May not drag all the way around maybe just in certain spots. If you go to far adjusting when it's all together you'll need to slip a screwdriver in and release the self adjuster so you can loosen it up. That's about it. If everything is in good shape the self adjuster should take over from there. Just be easy on the brakes for a few hundred miles so you don't glaze the shoes.

Definitely need adjusting then, as the drums slide on and off with ease. Wait until my shop assistant (translated "wife") finds out she doesn't have to pump those brakes anymore!
Don't worry about me going easy on the brakes, I'm a LONG way off from that!

I remember bleeding the brakes forever and I couldn't get a good pedal. EACH drum needed about 4-5 complete turns on the star wheel. :D I felt stupid after that (especially being an young ASE certified mechanic but I don't deal with drums every day)
