Hey guys, is it possible to get an oil leak from the bolts on an intake? At first I thought my valve cover gaskets were leaking, so I replaced the gaskets and I think got a pretty good seal. I know some bolts penetrate the water jacket, but wasn't sure about any oil passages. There is a puddle of oil where the two center bolts are on the driver side. FYI chevy 350.

I have had the same problem for years. I have tightened them down , No luck. I seen on tv that you need to put sealant around threads on bolts before installing. Jemoore24

Yes, very common. I use Permatex #2 non hardening sealant.

Remove them one at a time, clean bolt and hole with brake parts cleaner. Let it dry then coat bolt threads with Permatex or my favorite (ARP thread sealer) and reinstall. Problem solved.

Make sure you have some way for the bottom end to vent, PCV, evac system, vacuum pump, something.

I have helped many people fix leaks by keeping pressure off the gaskets and seals.
