Hey guys my 67 is sporting 12 inch Baer brakes in the rear, the track has been calling my name but im trying to figure out what 15 inch wheels I can use on the back so I can slick it down. I was told 15 inch torq thrust 2's wont work which is a bummer because I was hoping to leave my 17 inch TT2's in the front and just get a set of 15's for the track in the rear. any one have experience with what rims will and will not work on this setup?

Thanks in advance

Go to Baer's website and download their template for the brake system that you have. You can print out the template, transfer it to thin cardboard and cut it out. You can then try it on the wheel that you want to use. I think you will find that there are very few 15 inch wheels that will fit 12" disc brakes.
Good luck

Do you have any rallye wheels laying around? When I tried to put my 15x7 rallyes over my dad's 99 Z28 rear brakes, everything would have cleared if I could have ground down the casting fins on top of the caliper. The Baer brakes are probably fairly similar to the LS1 rear disc setup, aren't they? Anyway, worth a shot.

Good luck!

A guy over on Pro-Touring.com with the 12" Baer Touring brakes out back managed to fit 15" Weld Prostars over them. He said no mods/clearancing was needed on the rear calipers.

Troy I think he said he had to grind some of the caliper off to fit the wheel. All 4th gen F-body guys have to do this when trying to put 15's on the rear. Which pretty much is the same brake system.

Mark, he said he had to grind the front calipers-- not the back.

Here's a link to the thread in question:

http://66.70.234.198/forum/showthread.php?t=2497

And he says, and I quote: "I had to reposition the rear shocks upwards a bit, and slightly grind some casting corners off of my fancy front brake calipers, but everything fits now." No mention of griding on the rear calipers.

I'm not doubting the 4th gen F-body guys have to do it, all I'm saying is that for his car and Baer's (which would be the same kit as for A-bodies, only different caliper clocking to clear the leafs) he didn't mention any grinding was necessary on the rear calipers.

There are several 16" drag tires out there also so this may be a viable option. I have no trouble getting Sub 1.9 60ft times with 245/50/R16 nitto drag radials and Those are the worst of the bunch. the new MT drag radials or Hoosier DOT quick time pros come in 16" sizes also.
