: possible exhaust forum?

Just a thought, since it seems like there are multiple exhaust threads all over the forum like in Chevelle Tech, Performance, and Engine, why not have one sub forum for exhaust and have a main thread stickied with muffler/system user reviews, best for performance, race, street etc.

as well as a What Fits thread where users can post what brands of headers fit with out denting/dimpling etc etc.

just a thought

I have suggested that a couple times. I think it's a great idea.

If you can get your exhaust question answered in a number of other forums, what is the need for another one.

to cut down on the posts on the same subject constantly being made all over the place.

Sounds like a good idea to me. Would definitely cut down on the "how do you guys like XXXX mufflers" threads.

As I see it, it would just mean more posts to move and more people mad because their post got moved because people don't post in the proper forums but at least it would be more organized and easier to find stuff maybe.

posts don't necessarily have to be moved, maybe just the active ones, and add an announcement for in case anyone would get angry lol

I sure would like to see supporting vendors Magnaflow, Pypes, and Flowmaster duke in a real world challenge to see which one reigns supreme. Whatever that takes, I'm all for it.

It would go well as a sub-forum under Engine

It's not up to the mods, we do not have that power.

There are not enough exhaust questions to justify it. Exahust is exhaust where as suspension covers a lot more, transmissions cover a lot more, etc. How deep are you really going to get with exhaust systems? Its pipes and mufflers. And do we really need a forum for repeatedly asking the "which exhaust is best?" questions

You could save a forum and just make a sticky in performance or engine.

People do not post in the right forums as it is. So it would be just one more place for people to post in the wrong spot and another place to split up and introduce more ads.

No thanks.

Things can be confusing sometimes. Take steering wheels for example. Where do you place a question about steering wheels? Suspension, brakes and steering , or does it go in interior? Answer that one smart guy :D Or do you put steering wheel related questions in wheels and tires? Very confusing!!

Guess we need a steering wheel forum.

My take is if it relates to mechanical / input to the steering linkage and system or how the realtion of the wheel is to the actual wheels or linkage then its brakes and steering.

If its color, how to fix plastic, what horn or install kit is needed then its interior.

If its form - interior.

If its function - brakes and steering forum.

But having to choose between two doesnt justify creating a 3rd all of its own with such a narrow scope.

It would have little to no traffic - just like exhaust. People bring up these requests when they have one or two exhaust or whatever else questions that they cannot find with a search or when the site is slow for holidays, shows, etc and they havent gotten help quickly. I rarely ever see these requests pop up when the board is really active. Coincidence or frustration by the originator leading them to ask for a specific forum for a very limited scope / specific issue that they might have or had?

My take is its the latter.

I agree with Beaux... exhaust is too subjective. Some want a sound, others want performance, others want performance AND a certain sound.

If you want the best performance from your exhaust, post in performance. If you just want a sound, post in one of the forums where the most people are qualified to answer that... Chevelle Tech or Engines.

Or you could post it in the Exhaust Forum and not worry if you have it in the right place. :D

Need a clutch forum.

Need a stock wheel size forum and a 17+ wheel size forum.

Need a dash conversion forum and also a dash refurbish forum.

Need a stock 4 link rear forum and also a custom 3 link / watts / panhard forum.

Need a stock 12 bolt forum and then an aftermarket 12 bolt forum...with a 9 inch subforum...and a dana forum

Need a disc brakes forum and a drum brakes forum.

manual steering forum and a power steering forum.

rack and pinion forum.

a subforum in interiors dedicated strictly to steering column swaps

need a subforum under brakes for hydroboost only.

We have an FI forum and a carb forum....but we dont have a forum dedicated SPECIFICALLY to gas tanks FOR FI and FOR Carb'd apps. I'd like one of each so I dont have to look.

Can we get an oilpan mod forum? baffles, stuff like that...

I would like a fasteners forum. We have AMK, we have totally stainless....but what if I want to find my own piece by piece? What if I am doing stock resto and not custom? I need a SPECIFIC place where I can ask the question and it wont cross between the two.

We need a forum for every conceivable topic and every conceivable question. We need an oval vs rectangular port forum. We need a manual trans forum and an automatic forum. Maybe even an "Does xxx make my ass look fat?" forum.

I got big plans.....

:p;)

Some years back, IIRC, there were not forums for Electrical or for Interiors. As posts on those topics became more frequent in Chevelle Tech, the need for those new forums became obvious. I suspect that Exhaust questions are not that numerous.
