: parts interchange 4dr to 2dr ht??
protouring66 Dec 10th, 09, 4:48 PM what parts interchange from a 66 4dr, to a 2dr malibu hard top?? i found a 66 4 door, it is sitting in a salvage yard in the country. he won't sell the car but said anything i want off it and can carry out for $200, i need grill outer moldings, tail light buckets/quarter extensions, dash, windshield, bumpers, the chrome lip from the hood and "eye brows", inner wheel wells, rear seat, misc dash pieces. anyone able to help me out with what interchanges? i know that a few things are different, but how much? and what should i pull the bargain with?:D:yes: anything rare i should look for? the quarters are shot, and rockers are as well but otherwise pretty solid old car. says it has a "junk title" and he can't sell the whole car.
also it has 50k mile gauge cluster in pretty good condition
thanks for the help,
Erick
VinceS427bb Dec 10th, 09, 5:23 PM strip it and leave an empty shell, pull rear end, everything, someone else may need the 4-door specific parts....... :)
protouring66 Dec 10th, 09, 5:26 PM haha, he said i could fill the truck bed, of my truck, then laughed and said don't bring back a box truck, all i got is a short bed chevy 4x4 little 6ft bed,...
Lionel-n-Chevelles Dec 10th, 09, 8:45 PM The Frame, Nose, Dash pieces, Bumpers, Tail Lights with Quarter Extentions, etc. will all interchange. You are out of luck with the windshield. I am pretty sure that the rear seat is different as well.
YenkoChevelle69 Dec 10th, 09, 8:49 PM Put some stakes in the stake pockets of your truck bed and build some walls. YOu'll be able to fit about everything you want in there.
protouring66 Dec 10th, 09, 9:03 PM thats about what i expected just needed confirmation, i thought the front clip and tail light extensions were the same, was questioning the windshield, and yes i thought about that, i really don't need most of the stuff on there but i thought i could use a couple things and sell the rest to get back my $200, also has cool old E/T mags in fair shape i might scavenge for some one wanting a retro rod look if the snow lets me back out there soon i will acquire some pictures for any one making special request for parts. its a 283 powerglide car 4 door hood is ruined on the nose and rear quarters are shot if anyone has requests let me know i am always happy to help another chevelle owner!!:beers:
BillsCamino Dec 10th, 09, 9:28 PM Is it a 4dr Sedan or Hardtop? If Sedan, I've been looking for the metal carpet trim pieces at the base of the post between the two doors.
Also, the inside rear window plastic trim is hard to find in decent condition.
Windshield and rear seat are different from whats in a 2dr.
protouring66 Dec 10th, 09, 10:10 PM it is a sedan i'll make note and check for those
Jim Mac Dec 10th, 09, 11:21 PM I believe you can just unbolt the whole dash out of the car. dont forget the steering column. jim
