I am thinking about selling my 68 El Camino and need some opinions about what it might be worth. The original color was Ermine White with Saddletan interior. It is now red with white stripes. It is a cheap Macco type paint job. The car needs to be restored but runs and drived good as it is. The body is solid with very little rust. There is a little rust around the back glass. The chassis has surface rust but is very solid. Floor pans and bed looks good. The interior is in decent condition. The dash bezel needs to be replaced because the radio hols has been cut. It is a numbers matching 307 2bbl engine with 3 sped column shift trans with factory overdrive, very rare option. Factory AC. I don't think the engine has ever been out of the car. Still has the smog pump. It also has cruise control that looks like it was installed in the 70s. I put a new water pump on if a couple months ago. The new tires have maybe 50 miles on them. I have never checked the AC, cruise control or overdrive to see if they work. I was planning to modify the car so I wasn't going to use any of those anyway. I have over 100 pictures post on Photobucket. See link below.

I would start at $5k and see what kind of offers you get....
I would guess it will bring around $3000-$3500... if you are willing to let it go that cheap that is. Otherwise it will sit. There are lots of cars for sale with 2 year ago prices that aren't going anywhere.

I know those numbers suck, but thats what i see now looking at craigslist elcaminos, at least around here. :(

James,
As you know I've seen your Elky in person. It looks good and runs well.
However, as Ben mentioned, prices are down right now. I saw some great deals two weeks ago at the Turkey Rod run that didn't sell. Two years ago, these same vehicles priced in that way would have been gone in a heartbeat.
Honestly though, I think Ben's quote is a little low based on his location. Elkys are more common in the NW.
Not knowing what you've got in it, I'd price the car where you're comfortable with letting it go and see what happens.
Good luck with the sale if you decide to do so.

If you really are set on selling it now... put it on ebay.

When i sold my elky i went out of my way to not sell it there, and i think it made it a lot harder to get the money i wanted. I probably could have gotten more had i advertised there...

More eyes on a car equals more chances to sell for more money.

In CA, that would be a 5-6k Ride

Thanks for the opinions. Bill, I was hoping you or someone else that has seen the car would respond. Thanks. I don't really want to sell it but since I haven't worked in almost 7 months I will probably have too soon. I may list it here first before the weekend is over then try Ebay if I don't get any interest here. I've sold a lot of stuff on Ebay but never a car.
