I,m finishing restoring my 66 chevelleand I,m not happy with the way it sit,s.It set,s to high in the front and to low in the back.It is a small block and i,ve gone though the hole supension using stock hieght srings and upgraded to front disc brakes using stock spindels. Every thing is good but it looks like crap. any idea,s . Don,t want to have to tear every thing apart again. Any help would be much apprecated. thanks

I am going through the same exact thing with my 67. I am redoing the entire front and rear suspensions and was plannig to use the stock coils. I didn't want the car to sit too high in the front. Did you use the stock springs front and rear? If so how much higher is the front? The only thing I know for sure is that if you put your A arms back in and the motor was out or the car was not on the ground you may want to loosen and then re-torque the A arm bolts because they might be causing your problem. I have been trying to get some feedback from anyone regarding the subject but have so far struck out. Good luck

Hey thanks for reply, the car sit,s about one+half inchs higher in front.I bought new springs front and rear they where supposed to be same as stock. Also I waited until motor was in and car on ground before tighting and torquing A arms. looks like I have to take them back out and replace with dropped srings or cut off a coil. Not sure which to do. cheaper to cut a coil but I don,t know if thats a good idea. Let me know if you hear any thing else that might help. Good luck with yours.

Be sure to take into consideration that your original springs were probably 30+ years old, worn out & sagging a bit (like me) :D ) PeeWee your new springs may take a little while to settle. Also are you sure that they are seated correctly in the a-arm? Good luck

Put in 66 big block springs with the first ring cut off and it will drop it two inches. I did it to mine and it rides great and looks good to.

I also used the stock BB springs on my 66 and cut 1 coil out of the back springs and 1 1/2 coil out of the front.I like the slight rake stance and it tucked the tires up in the fenders it rides nice now. It originally sat higher in the front after a full rebuild.

peewee, I was in the same boat as you when I finished my suspension/braking project a month ago. I used stock height Global West springs, and used the original 32 year old springs in rear. After a few weeks of driving I realized new stock springs in the rear was't going to get the stance I wanted. I bought Hotchkis 1" lowering springs and the stance is perfect for me. Yes I had to take the front end apart, but it was worth it. Rides a lot better too!

thanks for all the end put guys. I,m new to this computer stuff but finding out its pretty cool talking to all you guys. Anyway what I,m thinking is that the springs that I took out looked like they hadn,t been in long and the the stance and ride was good, thinking of putting them back in. Do you think I,ll have to compress the springs to get them out or can I just use a jack and take a arms looose and let the jack down? Thanks for everyones help.
