: '69 SS 396 4SPD on Ebay?
1972convss454 Dec 10th, 09, 12:46 AM What do you guys think about this car? It is a friends. Can't figure out why he is selling. If I had the extra $$$'s laying around it would be at my house. It is as described. Very little rust in this car and does have all it's original sheet metal.

Bunz-T Dec 10th, 09, 6:43 AM What will it take to buy it. For me it is a 'tweener. Not a full blown resto but appears to need a lot of work to be a nice car. You get started fixing things on a car like this and there is no place to stop. What does very little rust mean?
Been here before.
1972convss454 Dec 10th, 09, 10:05 AM It can be bought in the mid teens. The only rust I saw was in the usual places. Behind the front fenders and around the rear wheel wells. Nothing major. Could be fixed without replacing the entire panel. No rust in the floors or trunk. The interior is original. It does have a 66 or 67 396 block with a 3:55 Posi rear. It's a great car that you could drive or restore. I could have it looking real good for under 20K. Nice color combo as well.
Indyspecracer Dec 10th, 09, 10:19 AM John is right about this car, it is a tweener. If you are willing to do a some work, I think you can do better than this car in the mid teens. For me, it would take a numbers matching drive train in order to push it in to the mid teens. I'm guessing a new paint job, new interior and some miscellaneous stuff would be 6k-7K with no labor cost.
I bought my 69 project car from John (Bunz-T) with a new drive train, body had already been off of the frame and the under side of the car was done, new brakes, lines, fuel tank etc. for perhaps a little less than this car.
The right buyer might pay the asking price for the benefit of being able to drive it for a while before starting to work on it.
Mr69 Dec 10th, 09, 12:45 PM Please tell him to put a paper bag over that steering wheel.
I almost vomited when I saw it.
That has got to be the ugliest steering wheel I have ever seen.
A grave injustice to the car, that's for sure.
I absolutely hate those ship steering wheels. Can you say... (((( Drop anchor ))))
Stickman Dec 10th, 09, 12:51 PM maybe I'm just picky... If you REALLY want to sell... take an hour and vac the interior, clean up the engine bay, and make it more presentable. When I see a car that isn't even cleaned for the sale pix, I wonder what else has been neglected / overlooked ... decent car...but improve your chances for sale... just my 2 cents...
Looks like a fairly complete car needing a complete restoration to be anything resembling a show car. To me the big questions would be, is there any documentation of options, how much is left of the original engine, drivetrain, and accessories (i.e. carb, dist, alt, etc.), and what is the real condition of the body as far as extent and quality of previous repairs. I wouldn't be too quick to say it isn't worth mid-teens if it had docs, was all there, and body only needed minor work (obviously needs new paint either way).
Astro Vent Dec 10th, 09, 3:56 PM I think the point is the cars all there though. Sure it needs work, but it looks fine the way it is...i'm not a 69/68 guy though..
Chris R Dec 10th, 09, 8:56 PM That car looks a lot like a car that recently sold on Ebay.
