I have a muncie shifter with the reverse lock out lever and I am trying to buy a ball for it. I looked at ground up and the options show for a 5/16 shaft or a 3/8 shaft which I assume they are talking about the thread size?
The shifter handle threads that I have measure right at or a little over 1/2 inch. What would fit this. I didn't see a 1/2" option anywhere.
Where is a good place to see some options for shifter balls, White would be fine for me but its my sons car so I thought I would let him decide.
Oh I forgot, 68 chevelle with a Saginaw transmission with bench seat shifter handle. Not a factory set up but a auto to a manual conversion.
Thanks

a 1968 muncie shifter is the flat stick using smaller threads than the Inland Steel style you seem to be using. the Inland steel was from 64-67 and the ball is designed so the reverse lockout can move up inside. Call Ground Up for help.

Thanks I knew it wasn't year correct but I didn't think about the reverse sleeve needing room to slide up inside the ball.
is there anyplace that specifically sells this type of thing that would give me greater options that anyone might know of?
Thanks

I'd ask Ground Up about these for pre-68.

Somebody swiped mine off my '65; bought a new one at GM parts counter. Quite a few years ago, but if you can find a part number, maybe...

I think the only one you are going to find for that shifter is the plain chrome one. It fits 1/2" reverse lock-out handle. Beleive me, I looked everywhere for a white one that would fit the stock 64 bench seat handle I'm using. I finally bought a white 3/8" ball and drilled and tapped it to fit. I'm not using the reverse lock-out feature, as I mated the stock shifter handle to a Hurst shifter.
