IS IT TRUE THAT PERFORMANCE SUSPENSION MAKES A DROP SPINDLE TO FIT THE EXISTING BOLT ON STEERING ARMS ON A 64 A-BODY ? IF SO WILL YOU ALSO NEED NEW CALIPER BRACKETS ?

Honestly I think calling Performance Suspension would get you the fastest and most accurate answer to a question like this.

I posted some replies lately indicating that Performance Suspension Components had dropped spindles that would use the existing bolt-on arm off of the stock 64 to 72 spindles. My reply was based on photos I had seen on their website. I found out today that my assumptions were incorrect. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused any of you.

I contacted Jerry at Performance Suspension Components to find out what they had advertised. I was told that the 2 inch dropped spindle they are selling for the 64 to 72 Chevelles is a spindle with an integral steering arm designed for the 64 to 72 Chevelles, but that this spindle requires the use of 82 or newer Monte Carlo brakes including the calipers.

I am interested in finding out what this spindle looks like and will try to get over there and measure one of these. I'll post the measurements when I get them.

The S10 spindle is completely different height and design and will not fit the 64 -72 A-body, not without causing the same problems as the tall spindles. I believe Performance is casting a completely new spindles in the design of the original 64 - 72, but are making it work with s10/ 78 - 87 a/g body brakes. The brakes on the later model car is very inadaquate ask a Grand National owner, I had a Monte SS and the rotors warped constantly and the brake faded all the time, these brakes are a joke, and this is on a car that is approx 300 lb lighter. Don't use these brakes, use the OEM spindle and drop the car with good quality springs.
