I posted a question last week about if the upper A arm could be removed with the lower held up by a jack when you don't have the engine and trans in the car.

You can ! I removed the upper arm with the lower held up with my jack. I am also doing a disc brake swap so I just removed it and I am doing the bushings and ball joints. The upper is not in contact with the spring and as long as the upper isn't sitting on the bump stop you can do it.

This would make it easy on people that want to replace the upper bushings and ball joint without taking apart the whole front end.

Any chance you have a new round skylight in your garage - about the diameter of a BB coil spring???? :D :D

Right, The spring can`t come out, unless you break the lower balljoint lose. Which can be done with the eng. out.

Normaly there is no problem ,unless you have strong springs. Just back the nut off a little bit and leave the nut on the stud till you break the joint lose. Then put pressure on the jack and remove the nut.lower the jack very slowley, spring should fall out. Be sure you have another jack under the car. HTH,

Good Luck,
