I've been looking around for a set and notice that a few come across Ebay from time to time. How much would one expect to pay for a set of crusty ones that needed sandblasting, painting and new bushings?

How about a set that was ready to install?

Can you even find them in a salvage yard anymore? Did ALL 70-72 Monte Carlos have them? Did all El Caminos have them or only the ones that ordered the F41 package?

This is for a 68-72, btw. Thanks! smile.gif

I believe you can buy a kit and box them yourself unless you are looking for originality I would go that route.just a thought

Not so much an originality thing, but I can't weld. I don't want to add the kit to my factory control arms (hey, I guess it is kind of an originality thing smile.gif ), so I'm still on the hunt.

I had a set I was going to sell but ended up using. I boxed them my self and had poly bushing put in. The plates for boxing were $35 and the bushings were $40 plus $28 to get them pressed in. So $103 minimum, plus paint and any welding cost. Add in a markup for a commercial outfit and I'd say $150 or more. Rubber bushings should be less. Neither of my El Caminos (66 & 67) were boxed.

I am actually toying with the Idea of building my own control arms from square tubing. I built a fixture using an old control arm to get the dimensions correct. I will let you know how they turn out.

I just won a set of original GM boxed lowers W/poly bushing and the sway bar on e-bay last week for $ 212, and that included shipping.

Someone on the members classified here on TC had a set for sale also. $ 40 bucks I think.

Great alternative if you can weld and fabricate.

I was thinking of cleaning up and boxing my factory LCA's and selling them, I no longer need them with the truckarm setup. If you're interested in them drop me an email, I'll do the welding and cleaning/painting, and send you the finished product, minus bushings.
My price would be reasonable.

Justin..to my knowledge el caminos didn't come with rear sway bars so the lower control arms were not boxed. I've owned 3 el caminos 68SS, 67, and now a 70SS and none of them had boxed lower arms.My 70 does now w/1" sway bar and it handles much better. :D
