My old factory steel lines are long gone and have had just rubber lines for the last couple of years but there ugly and bulky. So any good ideas of what to use instead.
Would be from the t400 to the tranny cooler on the front of my rad so stock replacements wont work. I think Steel tubbing would be hard to get all the bends right but have no experiance with.
Just wondering what other people are using...

you can buy pre-bent line kits ....... or just buy straight tubing & bend it yourself :D

if you crawl under there with a cloths hanger & bend the ends one at a time to use as a model for the tubing .... you'll see you really don't need all the bends ;)

Do it yourself with steel line.......you can buy it @ most auto parts stores in up to 60" lengths. To make it pretty you will need a double flaring tool and tubing bender. The tubing is cheap, about $6 a stick last time I bought; so you can make a few mistakes without breaking the bank.

That's it........3/8"......You more than likely will have to decide if you want the easier to bend tubing or the regular steel tubing. I prefer the regular steel because once the line is made it stays in shape better......They both work fine.........You can get it in stainless but around here you have to order in 20 ft. sticks.....I haven't had a chance to try it yet.

I use steel braided lines from the transmission to the cooler... looks great! depends on the look you want...

i used brass fittings to transition through the rad cradle, so the tranny lines (braided) end at the inside of the cradle and on the outside of the cradle i used short rubber lines to connect to the cooler... the other lines in the first pic are from a fuel block to the carb, and a pressure guage...

i just took these pics with my phone, hope they help show what i'm describing...

Oops! You're are absolutely right, 5/16".........The only defense I have for my memory loss is the last cooling lines I bent were 3/8" on a friend's Pro-Street Nova........ :clonk:
