I just picked up a 69 chevelle where the front drums where converted to disc.....you can literally shake the brake pads back and forth they are not touching the rotor at all......it has an Adjustable prop valve disc/drum ...... i tried bleeding and nothing..need help bad!!!!! thanx

Did you step on the brake and see if the caliper moves?
Does fluid come out that bleeder when you open it?
Maybe the piston is frozen in the caliper. Rebuilt calipers are not too expensive.

I have bled them the callipers they compress... but they dont stay down...i press the pedal down and they compress ...but then they suck in ????/ do i need to change the calipers or change the pads....or does the adj. valve have anything to do with it????

I would wonder if the master cylinder was changed out when the disc's were added... There is a difference between drum and disc masters. Has something to do with residual line pressure and how the system keeps the pads OR shoes out near the contact surface. Can you post a pic of the current master? :eek:

ok....i changed the master and added a disc drum prop. valve and every thing works fine now.....i think it was a combo of everything not right.....thanx to all for the info...Jerry
