Per a tip from someone here on TC, O'Reilly Auto parts apparently sells rebuilt distributors that are apparently "complete" for reasonable $$.

I called and sure enough, they do have them...but the difference in price has me confused...

For a "1970 350 SB distributor"...

$120.00 + Core for a distributor with governor

$35.00+ Core for a distributor without governor

?

Never heard the term before, what's a governor in a distributor?

Governor is for a big truck like a C50. $120 for a points distributor is a big ripoff.

Used on truck applications.
Some in conjunction with a governed carb.

$120's not that bad for a governed distributor Dave.
Rebuilt IH ones go for $350.

Cool, so I don't need no stinkin' governor. :D

$120 is a rip-off, but $34.99+ $10 core (they ain't gettin' my original #s distributor!!) is pretty good...
