anyone know where the insulation was glued to? goes under the dash area? thanks!!

Do not insulate the dashboard. stop your insulation at top of firewall.
Using a 3M spray adhesive is the best product I found for adhesion.
Make sure this area is as clean as possible.
Wirebrush it. Also use a 3M scuff pad before spraying.
Pre cut and prefit the insulation.

why may I ask

If you're referring to the (2) 4"x24" or so pieces the vendors sell, they glue to the bottom side of the dash panel on either side of the speaker. The insulation you buy is nowhere near the same stuff as the factory used but will serve the purpose.
