I was just curious if anyone knew what the ring gear numbers meant. I am buying a rear end for my 70 chevelle and wanted to make sure it is what he says 4.10 or 4.11.

The numbers are: GM-386526 1041 GM-9-72. Any information to prove what they are would be a help to me.

Thank you,

-Nick-

The number on the ring gear should read 3862526 which is a 4.10 part. 10 41 is the pinion and ring gear tooth count which is 4.10. 9-72 is the date of manufacture Sept 1972. The pinion gear should have the p/n 3862514 stamped on it's rear face and a date code very similar to the ring gear. Ring/Pinion set p/n was 3865998.
