Okay, Now that I've got info for my buddies that want to swap from power steering to manual steering, I'm now thinking about one of my own plans for my car.

I've been wanting to find out how difficult it would be to change an original Power Disc brake car over to Manual Disks. I haven't seen many set up this way, And I think I'd like to at least try it out someday. In not on the 70 Malibu I have now, on a 68 BB car I'm dreaming of owning someday.

Thanks.

I have not done this swap, but from reading here it seems like using a 1973 Camaro non-power master cylinder is the key component. The question becomes "what pushrod do I use?"

My 71 has 4 wheel drums, and i swapped from power to manual brakes a couple years ago. It was a pretty simple job. Just a straight swap out for the vacuum pod and master cylinder, to a non power master cylinder. I cut off the adapter on the end of the pushrod for the new master cylinder, and used a die cutter to put some threads on it so i could use the same bolt on adapter that was on my old master cylinder pushrod.

Bolted everything up, bled the brakes, and it worked perfectly. Best mod i ever did for my brakes with my low vacuum engine.
