I have noticed that on the 1969 396 power steering pumps, that the return tube is positioned in two different positions. The first link shows the tube (once mounted) heading away from the motor. The second link shows it heading towards the block. Which is correct for a Chevelle? Chevelle/Camaro Vs Impala????

Brad, like I've said before, the '69 bracket setup must've been designed by an engineer on Monday morning with a severe hangover. It's a ho's nightmare.:)

The 70 pump has the return tube out the back. Both of the pumps in the ebay links above have the tubes out the bottom. Once mounted one pump will have the tube facing to the right (motor), the other pump return line will face the drivers side fender. The one seller did respond to my email and state that the pump was indeed off an Impala. So I am going to assume that even though they share the same brackets, the big block pumps are differnent between a 69 Chevelle / Camaro and a 69 Impala?

So we're saying the one on the right is correct for a 69 Chevelle???

LOL, that is the windows security alerts, hehe

Dwight if you ever need a picture of my P/S let me know.

Rick yours looks incorrect only because of the angle of the return line and maybe even the length of it:confused:

You can braze the return line in the correct position on the P/S pump.
