I'm thinking about going to look at this later in the week.
Assuming the following what would be a good price?
Engine = # match
No documents
Transmission doesn't match, it's been changed from AT to manual.
Interior needs 75% restore/replace
Rust is no worse then discribed in ad
Based on the assumption that this is a fairly solid, engine matching SS396 with the wrong tranny that needs total restoration, but isn't a basket case. Does anyone wanna throw out a "wouldn't pay more than" number?

There's alot of work to be done there. I would say $5K tops.

Another thing to consider/verify, is that it is indeed a "matching Number" engine... That means the VIN is stamped on the deck surface... I'd call and ask before driving all that way...
It seems the majority of sellers out there seem to think the correct casting numbers (or even the correct stampings for another Chevelle) are all thats needed to be "matching numbers"... :sad:

Thanks guys. That gives me an idea. I'll be sure to get some more pictures and info before I go see it. I'm looking to make a partial trade for 79 Vette I just picked up in another trade. I figure the Vette is worth $5K all day long, so maybe if the Chevelle turns out to have potential, I can get it for minimal cash.

I would also say around 8K. At least around here in this part of the country.

That Vette looks pretty good, I normally hate that body style but I would actually drive that one. Is that a 4 speed? Hard to tell in the pix.

Yeah, it's a 49 State car with a 4 spd. Nice car, I just don't fit in it and the whole reason for selling my chopper was to fund a Chevelle without causing the wifebomb to go off.
The picture has mysteriously vanished... Is it against forum rules to post pics of NON-Chevelles?
Which picture vanished? :confused:
Hundreds of non Chevelle pictures get posted.
There is no rule against it as long as they are family friendly.

How much do you want for the Vette? My brother was looking for a '79. He thought it would be cool to have a car the same year he graduated high school. I think he's going thru a mid life crisis.
