I installed my new deep groove pulleys tonight. I got the stock 396/375 crank, water pump, alternator, and power steering. I was surprised to find that they are underdriven, the crank and w/p are smaller than the old ones and now I need smaller belts. This should cure the belt throwing that I have above 6500 rpms. I was just surprised that they were underdriven from the factory. The rest of my parts with the exception of my new ring and pinion should be here in a couple of days. When I get back from the Grand Canyon, the rear comes out and gets built. Should be back to the track just before New Years:)

7000 rpm shifts on the way . We are expecting to see favorable results (That means you better beat George's times) Mark :D.

He wont be shifting at 7000:noway: If I were him I would shift at 6500.

What gear ratio did you go with Mark?

I know that Kevin, but now when he misses a shift he wont have to worry about the belts ;).

What gear ratio did you go with Mark?

456s from Strange with Superior axles and a Summit diff cover with bearing supports. I'm gonna run a 28" Goodyear slick with the Summit racing wheels front and rear. Now I just have to find some bias ply fronts locally. The gears won't be here until the 3d week of DEC so I have plenty of time to tear apart the car.

Yes, I've missed a couple of gears...........that's what happens when you DRIVE your car instead of just steering it:D

OK, who is the official Judge on the winner here? kettbo vs gotago
I nominate TOG

Raw times? DA modified times? DA conditions similar times are head to head?
All this because we cannot race same place, same time.
I am expecting, no, DEMANDING the fella from San Antonio destroys my best times by my poor lil ol budget 454. All I am saying is that Spring can't come soon enough....

Best wishes to ya Mark....git r done.

Just got the new belts on it, I thought I'd have to spend mucho tiempo at the counter comparing belts but the computer listed belts for a 375hp 396 and both the power steering and fan belts fit great:thumbsup: Picked up a throttle cable bracket for the Holley at the local speed shop so I should get that installed tomorrow and see how it works.

George, there is no competition between me and any of my TCNW brethren. The car runs what it runs and most of the folks up in God's corner of the world will be faster than me. However, if you want to dial against me I'll see ya at the tree................:)
