Most all the tall spindle w/12" brake rotor swaps that I see recomend using a caliper for an 11" set up such as the 70-71 T/A or stock Chevelle disk set-up. Why? Wouldn't a calpier and pad set designed for 12" be more appropriate as I assume that the pad profile would better match the rotor and distribute the force more evenly? Why not just use the stock calipers for the application that the spindles came off of?? Are there issues regarding the LE1 rotor thickness vs. others?? Anyone have any good recomendations? The b-body calipers are the exact same as the stock Chevelle ones... they just have the brake line mounting boss in a different location. Yes, you can use the B-body calipers, I did for a while, but then you need longer brake lines and they actually point donw a away and have to loop back up to get to the correct mounting point of the hard line. If you use the stock Chevelle ones, then you can keep the mounting boss in the same place and use the same lines. The stock Chevelle rotors and the 1LE rotors are the same thickness... 1.10" thick, the 12" system just moves the caliper a little further out to give better leverage.
Hope that helps,
