I got a 69 el camino and I want to put a cowl induction hood on her because I like the way they look on elcamino's and I will need the clearance when I drop a supercharger in it. But what is a good sized induction hood size on this car. All I have been able to see is a 2" hood and that seems to be the most popular but anyone else who has this style chevy I'd appreciate you letting me know what size looks best the 2,3, or 4" hood? Thanks guy's your help has gotten my car a long way!

Thanks guy's your help has gotten my car a long way! It's all a matter of preference. Which do YOU prefer? As for me? I prefer the factory stock OE type cowl induction hood, whether it be a functional, or the non-functional type. They give you about an extra 2.5" hood clearence. I don't care for the 4" and 6" aftermarket cowl hoods, because I think they look way too boxy and therefore take away from the body style of these cars. The OE type cowl induction hoods aren't as boxy and they have more sleek and rounded contours. JMO, but I guess that's what you're asking for.

What size blower do you plan on putting on? A "little" blower will fit under a 2" - 2 1/2" scoop but a 6-71 will need something much taller. Also, take a look at Glasstek if you go with a tall scoop. As mentioned above, I hate the boxy look some other brands have. Glasstek cowl induction scoops are pretty faithful to the original shape.

I'm with the above responses. If your running a big 4" inch cowl hood you better have something real mean under the hood IMHO.

Hey, do yourself a favor and stay away from a company called "unlimited products " I bought a 7 inch Cowl from them for my old - 468 IROCZ-28 project, the cowl was slanted to the left like 3/4 of an inch, and when I tried to reach the company to complain, they were not very helpful, they are a joke,, I was luckier than a lot of people,,,the hood fit the car and if it hadnt , I would have made it --- but it was crap,,
I hate them too much to Capitalize theyre name,,,
