Hey Guys,

Need to put in an order for wheels for my '69 Chevelle. Current plan calls for 17x8 and 17x9.5 (11s if they'll fit).

I've read on this and other forums varying opinions on backspacing and max rear width. Car is fresh out of paint and am in the process of reconstruction, waiting on the diff so I can't take measurements.

Does anyone have any experience with respect to backspace and max width on an otherwise stock '69?

I would really appreciate any and all advice.

Thanks in advance for your time
Joe

I know on a 10" rim you will need 5.5" backspacing and for a 8" rim you need 4.5" backspacing for 0 offset, thats what fits. So on your 9.5" rim does it come in 5.25" backspacing?

Do a search on 17x11 or 315 and you will find that the 11 inch wide wheel will work with 6 or 6.25 BS. I'm on the hunt for new wheels myself and that is what my research showed. You might have to do a a tiny bit of messaging depending on tire size....

Thanks guys.

I did do a search and found what Jeff suggested. I've even sent the poster of said results a PM and am waiting for a reply. I don't want anyone to think I haven't done research already, I was just wondering if anyone else had any more recent info.

Like I said, I would like to place an order soon and all knowledge is good.

Thanks again.

Your rearend is stock width correct? The 8" w/4" to 4.5" bs and 9.5" w/5" to 5.5" bs wheels are easy fits on your car. The 17x11 are a bit tighter but will fit with about a 6.25" bs. I have some 6" bs 11's w/315-35's on my 72 442 that I have tried on my 68-69 cars and they fit but were pretty tight at the fender lip but had some space on the inside to play with. If I ran them on my Chevelle, I would trim the fender lip back a little and smooth it up.
