I just discovered what I think may be the origin of the front fender gills (louvres) on a 1966 Beaumont SD.

Anybody familiar with the rear 1/4 louvres on a 1964 LeMans? I've never seen them before, but was surfing the net & came across a picture of a 1964 Lemans. In front of the rear wheel well, there are chrome louvres that look a lot like the louvres on a '66 SD.

And it appears they are being re-popped and available through AMES.

Has anyone ever compared these against the 66 SD louvres?

(There used to be a guy selling re-pop's of these and I can't remember what he was charging, but I know it was WAY more than the $14 each that AMEs has them listed for...)

Maybe this is old news, but I don't think the LeMans was sold in Canada in 1964, so they are very rare up here. Anyone I have seen has been cloned as a GTO and I don't think the GTO's had these louvres.

I'd have to agree, they certainly do look like they could be the same, just installed on an angle for the Beaumont. I don't know if they actually are the same though. I'd be really curious to find out as well. The Beaumont louvers are being reproduced along with the Sport Deluxe emblems. I know Dale's Musclecar Parts in Bracebridge, Ontario carries them.

The Beaumonts were famous for using the odd Pontiac parts, like the round backup lights, the dash, and the '64 U.S. Pontiac wheelcover design on the '66 Beaumonts.

I posted this over at Canadian Poncho and heard back that the 64 LeMans gills are NOT the same as those on a 66 SD (apparently they are the same as the gills on a 65 SD however).

I see too that the 66 SD gills are shown on Dale`s Muscle Car site at $160 per set of 20.

Not having a '64 Lemans around to check, all that I can say is that the Lemans louvres look like they might be taller.

It ws perhaps the '71 Lemans Sport that had similar gills on the front fenders. Don't know if they are the same. Worth a look though. They look like they too may be longer/taller.

Not the same. The LeMans ones are wider. Same design and shape though.

lemans ones have 4447549 cast into the back
Beaumonts P/N 9783317 later superceded 3395211

Check with www.dalesmusclecarparts.com I believe he was having some of the Beaumont pieces reproduced. Dale is a good guy to deal with.
