Easy answer for original equipment. Keep it tucked away for the person that might want it with the car someday if you ever sell it, then do what you want with the car.
What's it worth? Couple hundred at most IMO, but worth a lot more to the person that really wants it for originality, with your car.

Keep it. Used it's worth $5-600 tops. I can get a 400 core for less than $100 normally.

Would a person really care if it has the original tranny and nothing else?

that is my question really.....rear is non original to car and although block is correct for 68 it in non matching #'s as well.....Paul
I would keep it. I have the original engine, trans and axle from my 79 Capri, that I have had since 81. Plan to keep them forever.
Not worth enough to sell, but it does make a good conversation piece for your car.

No, I wouldn't think so. Why would its TH 400 make it more "valuable?"
The car no longer has its original engine (or original rear end, for that matter), so the fact that this car is a non-original, non-numbers matching car, is already a foregone conclusion.
With a car such as this, the Tremec would add to its "value" more so than a rather common TH 400.
Unload it to someone who can use it, and free up some garage space.

keep your original trans and sell the convertor. Factory L88 convertor will have the 6 mounting straps. Throw it on ebay.
