Can a 17 x 11 wheel fit under the rear of a 66? Or does it have to be modified?

What backspacing wouldyou need to run a 10" wheel on the rear of a 66?

Much of this information has already been discussed in the forums already. I would suggest using the search as well as the wheel/tire database that one of the members has put together.

I did both. I found a variety of backspacing from 5.5"-6" for the rear, but many had suspension upgrades or a rear out of post 66 model making the rear end an inch shorter.

I am wanting to run a 17x8 on the front & 18x10 on the rear. I have been searching for the offset which will keep the wheels/tires inside the fenders and tire size that won't rub when driving or turning into my driveway or u-turns.

I am building my first car so please know that I am learning & I do search/read before posting questions.

18x10 with 5.75" of backspacing worked for me on my 67

I ran 17 X 9.5 wheels on the back... Both 5.5" and 6.0" BS cleared fine with 275/40-17... Plenty of room... Stock '66 12-bolt...

What size tire are you trying to run?

For the front, are you running stock drums? Or did you swap to discs? If discs, what are the specs?

I swapped to C5 brakes ( push the wheels out 1/4" or so beyond 69-72 discs, IIRC), and ended up running 17X9.5 wheels with 6.0" BS on the front, and the 275/40-17 tires cleared fine... My wheels required a thin spacer, so BS would be about 5.875" with a wheel not requiring a spacer...

I wanted to run the same size all around, but 6.0" BS on the rear tucked the tires in too far for me (cleared, but IMO, did not look right)...

You can fit a 315 (at least a 17" diameter I know for a fact will fit easily) under the rear but not too sure about an 11 wide rim.

Still running the stock drum brakes for now. At some point I will change to disc brakes, but I'll worry about that later.

I think the 18x10 on the rear with 5.875" bs will be perfect. This should get the tires close to the fender but shouldn't rub from what I read. I'm not sure what tire I should run to make sure though. Any suggestions?

Front wheels I think I'll run a 17x8 with 4.5" bs. Again, I'm not sure on the tire size. I want it to look proportional to the amount of tire on the rear wheels, but want to avoid any rubbing while turning into my driveway. Again, any suggestions?
