hiperf406 Nov 26th, 09, 2:44 PM Hi everyone - New member long time Chevelle owner. Bought a 67 SS 396/ 350HP, 4 speed Chevelle fresh out of HS. I tell people I'm living example of why there aren't more around for the collectors, drove it like it was a rented mule. The 396 was a tough engine - only had 1 valve job in 50,000 mi. Put a set of Mickey Thompson racing slicks on & proceeded to snap driveshaft at front yoke, GM wouldn't warranty - called failure due to misuse, go figure. I sold the slicks to a friend with a Camaro SS396/ 375 HP & he twisted his driveshaft at rear yoke & shaft came through the rear floor, no warranty for him either 1! Now I presently own a 70 SS454 LS6, # matching on engine & on T400 auto , light group, p/s, pb, power windows, AM/ 8 track( not an AM/FM), 4:10 posi, guage package, cowl induction, bucket seats, consul & white strips. . The car is Forest Green w/ green interior - spose to have a White vinyl roof but am not in a hurry to install one. Car came with build sheet & I checked with GM Restoration & got a letter confirming car is real LS6 ( Canadian car built in Kansas). Wife & I try to take to as many shows as possible, car is driven & shown regularly. Sorry to babble so long. (only 2 things babble - brooks & idiots.

Shouldn't snap any driveshafts - no more slicks & auto !!!
