Take a good look at the filter before you buy it. Look down the hole where the filter tube goes in. If there is a yellow or green paper type element, don't buy it. The paper or media type filters are restrictive and tend to cause a whine when the fluid is cold (like a power steering system with morning sickness).

You want a brass screen, any trans shop will sell you one.

Any medium duty truck with an Allison A540 will have a brass screen in it. An Allsion A540 is a 400 on the inside, just in a real big ugly case.
