Well i got the upper arms off no problems. Im staring at the ball joints and comparing them to the new ones I got. It's strange. There are the 4 small bolts that hold it in. The old ones which ive yet to pull off look like there are little stud like nubs that go through. They look like they were spot welded in. What should I do? Grind them off?

Yup, grind (or chisel) the tops off the rivets and punch them out.

well the good ol' chevelle archive says to freeze the bushings and it helps with inserting the new ones.... and a big woppin hammer. other than that... i dont know what to do!

Freeze the bucsings, heat the arms, might work. Be careful with the hammer, you don't want to bend up the bushings or the control arms.
The only other way is to press them in. I had them pressed in by a mechanic with that had a press. smile.gif

I pressed mine in with my big bench vise, worked perfect.

I was able to get mine half way in with a bench vise but ended up going to a machine shop and having them pressed in for $30.
